The flight schedule is set for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. EI81 will depart Dublin at 4:10 pm, arriving in Pittsburgh at 7:10 pm, an eight-hour journey. The return flight, EI80, will depart at 8:40 pm, landing back in Dublin at 8:40 am the following day, a seven-hour trip. These flights will operate during the carrier's peak period for US services.
Now, here's where it gets interesting. According to booking data, Pittsburgh sees a significant number of passengers traveling to and from Europe, with Dublin being the fourth-largest market. Aer Lingus aims to boost this traffic with its new direct flights and strategic promotions. However, the existing passenger count is nearly half of another upcoming route, Dublin-Raleigh/Durham.
And this is the part most people miss: Aer Lingus' success in the US market relies heavily on connecting traffic to multiple European cities. Passengers will benefit from US preclearance in Dublin, streamlining their journey.
Looking ahead to July 2026, Aer Lingus has big plans. According to Cirium Diio data, they'll operate 95 weekly departures to the US using the A321LR or A321XLR, a substantial increase of 48% year-over-year. Narrowbody aircraft will play a crucial role, accounting for 53% of their peak summer flights between Europe and the US, up from 41% in a year.
Beyond the new routes to Pittsburgh and Raleigh/Durham, Aer Lingus has made several changes to its US narrowbody network. For instance, they'll now offer a third daily service between Dublin and New York JFK, and the frequency from Shannon to Boston has increased to 10 weekly flights. Dublin-Newark flights have gone from four weekly to daily, and Dublin-Indianapolis and Nashville have increased from four to five weekly. Every change counts!
