Gran Turismo 7's Spec III Update: Unveiling the Powerful Data Logger (2025)

Get ready to dive into the world of Gran Turismo 7, where the upcoming Spec III update is about to revolutionize your racing experience! But what's this new Data Logger all about?

Polyphony Digital has given us a sneak peek at the Data Logger, a feature that will be part of the December Spec III update. While new cars and tracks are the main attractions, this update also brings a host of other enhancements, including an updated telemetry visualization tool.

You might recall a brief mention of the Data Logger when Spec III was first announced, but now we have a more extended look at its capabilities. The latest video showcases how you can load a single lap from any replay and analyze it in multiple ways.

The Data Logger offers various viewing options, including a two-pane and two three-pane views. Each view provides a comprehensive look at your lap performance, with speed traces, car and tire data, lap and circuit maps, and G-meter readings.

The two-pane view displays a driving line overview, allowing you to zoom and reposition, while one of the three-pane views includes a road speed and engine speed trace, resembling a gear ratio chart. The other three-pane option presents additional customizable traces, potentially showing throttle percentage, engine speed, braking effort, and steering position.

And here's where it gets exciting: you can compare two different laps directly! The Data Logger maps one lap onto another, adjusting for time differences, so you can see the exact position of the cars at any given moment. This enables a detailed analysis of track position, speed, throttle, gear selection, and various forces.

This feature is a game-changer for racers, providing a powerful tool to scrutinize your laps against others. No more chasing ghosts all day; you can now download and analyze faster laps from the leaderboard to improve your times.

With a competitive Time Trial event for the Polestar 5 on the horizon, the Data Logger couldn't have come at a better time. But will it be a fair game for all? Comment below if you think this feature gives an edge to certain players or if it's a level playing field.

Stay tuned for more Spec III updates, as there's plenty more to uncover!
