Imagine spending a night under the stars, not by choice, but because you have nowhere else to go. This is the harsh reality for thousands of homeless individuals every night. But here’s where it gets inspiring: for the fourth year in a row, local business leaders are stepping out of their comfort zones to experience a fraction of this struggle. On Thursday, April 16, Mattioli Woods Welford Road (home of the Leicester Tigers) will transform into a temporary campsite as part of the CEO Sleepout, starting at 8 pm and lasting until 6 am the next morning. And this is the part most people miss—it’s not just about sleeping outside; it’s about raising funds and awareness to combat homelessness in our community. The Leicester Tigers Foundation, alongside CEOs and business leaders from across the East Midlands, are uniting for this cause. Every penny raised goes directly to local charities, providing temporary housing, warm clothing, essential supplies, and food for those in need. But here’s the controversial part: Can one night of discomfort truly make a difference? While some argue it’s a symbolic gesture, others believe it’s a powerful way to spark conversations and drive change. All you need to participate is a big heart and a sleeping bag.
