McKenzie Kurtz, Isabelle McCalla & More Join SCHMIGADOON! on Broadway | Full Cast Announcement (2026)

Get ready for a Broadway adventure like no other—because Schmigadoon! is coming to town, and it’s bringing a cast that’s as magical as the show itself. But here’s where it gets controversial: Can a couple’s retreat to rekindle their romance really lead to a town where everyone sings, and the only escape is finding true love? Sounds like a dream—or a nightmare—depending on who you ask!**

Today, the highly anticipated Broadway production of Schmigadoon! revealed its star-studded cast, joining the previously announced Alex Brightman and Sara Chase. Brightman and Chase will lead the show as Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble, a pair of New York doctors who ditch their stethoscopes for backpacks in search of a spark. Little do they know, their couples’ retreat will land them in Schmigadoon, a whimsical town straight out of a Golden Age musical. Think nonstop singing, a bridge to nowhere, and a love story that might just rewrite their future—together or apart. And this is the part most people miss: escaping this enchanting trap requires more than just a map—it demands true love.

The town’s quirky residents are brought to life by a cast that’s nothing short of extraordinary. Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer steps into the role of Mildred Layton, the morally upright (and nosy) wife of Reverend Layton. If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a character is too involved in everyone’s business, Gasteyer’s Mildred is your answer.

Reprising her role from the Apple Original series, Ann Harada returns as Florence Menlove, the oblivious yet devoted wife of Mayor Menlove. Her performance is a masterclass in comedic timing and heartfelt sincerity.

Speaking of the Mayor, Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar takes on the role of Mayor Menlove, a charming leader with a secret—and a song—tucked away in his heart. But here’s the question: Is his secret the key to Schmigadoon’s magic, or just another layer of its mystery?

Isabelle McCalla plays Emma Tate, the town’s teacher and a woman ahead of her time. Her struggle to fit into Schmigadoon’s rigid norms raises a thought-provoking question: Can individuality thrive in a world that demands conformity? What do you think—is Emma’s fight one we can all relate to?

Making his Broadway debut, Ayaan Diop charms as Carson, a lovable young resident who adds a dash of comedic brilliance to the mix. Meanwhile, screen and stage star Ivan Hernandez portrays Doc, the town’s handsome yet cold-hearted doctor. But here’s where it gets interesting: Can a man with an icy heart find warmth in Schmigadoon’s magical embrace?

Max Clayton steps into the role of Danny Bailey, the town’s bad boy with a capital T. His interest in Melissa (Chase) spells trouble—but is he truly the villain, or just a product of Schmigadoon’s peculiar rules? McKenzie Kurtz shines as Betsy, the farmer’s daughter who instantly falls for Josh (Brightman). Her innocence and passion make her a standout in this eccentric world.

The ensemble is rounded out by a talented group of performers, including Afra Hines, Becca Petersen, Brandon Block, Clyde Alves, Jess LeProtto, Joshua Burrage, Kaleigh Cronin, Keven Quillon, Kimberly Immanuel, Lauralyn McClelland, Lyrica Woodruff, Maria Briggs, Miles McNicoll, Nathan Lucrezio, Richard Riaz Yoder, Shina Ann Morris, and Zachary Downer, each bringing their unique flair to the townspeople of Schmigadoon.

Additional casting will be announced later, so stay tuned for more surprises. The production begins previews at the Nederlander Theatre on April 4, with opening night set for April 20, and runs through September 6. Mark your calendars—this is one show you won’t want to miss.

Brought to life by Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels and based on the award-winning Apple Original series from Universal Television, Schmigadoon! is a hilarious musical extravaganza. With a book and Emmy Award-winning score by Cinco Paul, direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Christopher Gattelli, and a creative team that includes Scott Pask (set design), Linda Cho (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), Walter Trarbach (sound), Tom Watson (hair and wigs), and Ashley Ryan (makeup), this production promises to be a feast for the senses.

Produced by Lorne Michaels, Micah Frank, Caroline Maroney, Christine Schwarzman, and Megan O’Keefe, Schmigadoon! is a collaboration between Broadway Video and No Guarantees Productions. Casting is by The Telsey Office, with TT Partners serving as General Manager.

So, here’s the big question: Is Schmigadoon a dream come true or a trap disguised as a musical paradise? Let us know in the comments—and don’t forget to grab your tickets before they’re gone! Photo Credit: Emilio Madrid.
