The future of space security just got a major boost! Intuitive Machines has brought on Mike Betts as their new Vice President of National Security Space Strategy. With over 30 years of experience in national security space, technical intelligence, and interagency strategy, Betts is poised to make a significant impact.
Intuitive Machines is building a robust space infrastructure, offering end-to-end data services. This allows customers to transmit data securely and reliably, with minimal delay, which is crucial for real-time decision-making, flexible mission planning, and coordinated actions. Their goal? To create a powerful asset that protects our nation's security and enhances everyone's safety.
In his new role, Betts will be aligning Intuitive Machines' infrastructure and mission services with the specific needs of National Security Space. He'll be ensuring the company remains at the forefront of protecting U.S. interests in space. He'll also be fostering partnerships with government and industry to build resilient, secure, and mission-ready capabilities, especially in the rapidly changing lunar and cislunar environments.
“Mike brings deep national security space expertise that will strengthen our role in protecting the United States on Earth and far beyond it,” stated Intuitive Machines CEO, Steve Altemus. “His distinguished service in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, including his leadership as National Intelligence Manager for Space, reflects a career spent defining the intelligence community’s posture across defense, civil, and commercial space. We’re proud to have him bring that perspective to Intuitive Machines.”
But here's where it gets interesting... Before joining Intuitive Machines, Betts held key positions at the National Reconnaissance Office, where he spearheaded specialized technical initiatives and developed innovative collection strategies. He also served on the National Intelligence Council, facilitating collaboration on science and technology assessments.
Betts is also known for building public-private partnerships through the Intelligence Community’s talent exchange program. He has been instrumental in fostering collaboration across government and commercial sectors to address critical skill set needs. His expertise covers workforce development, technical intelligence, and space domain strategy.
Intuitive Machines welcomes Betts, looking forward to the innovation and strategic growth he'll bring. They are building the infrastructure for a thriving and secure space economy.
