Despite the challenges, Searle hopes his story inspires others facing similar struggles. "If I can inspire people that maybe can't see as well to pick up the game, then it means a lot to me." His determination is a powerful message: limitations don't have to define you.
Interestingly, Littler himself has faced his own eyesight challenges. As a child, he underwent surgery at Warrington Hospital to correct strabismus, a condition where the eyes are misaligned. Searle's commitment extends beyond personal inspiration. He's a passionate advocate for ADOA research, having raised over £10,000 for the Cure ADOA Foundation. His motivation is deeply personal: he hopes a cure can be found so that his daughter, who is also visually impaired, can one day drive a car.
"It's a hereditary condition, so I've passed it to both of my children," Searle shared. "My son doesn't have it as bad as me, but my daughter has it really bad... So, if I can raise a lot of awareness for that and try and find a cure for it, that means a lot to me." Searle's dedication highlights the power of sports to raise awareness and drive positive change.
