Sean Hayes to Star in Off-Broadway Thriller 'The Unknown'
Sean Hayes will grace the New York stage once again in an Off-Broadway production of 'The Unknown'.
Written by David Cale, this one-man play follows a writer who retreats to a remote cabin to overcome his writer's block, only to uncover a chilling twist: he might not be alone, and his reality might be intertwined with the thriller he's crafting. Leigh Silverman, renowned for her work on 'Suffs' and 'Violet', will direct this captivating production.
The play is set to run for 10 weeks at Studio Seaview Off-Broadway, opening on February 12, 2026, with previews starting January 31, 2026.
Hayes is no stranger to the stage, having recently won a Tony Award for his performance in 'Good Night, Oscar', which also had a successful West End run. He first announced this exciting project on his podcast, SmartLess, which he co-hosts with Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.
Cale's previous works include the solo play 'Harry Clarke', starring Billy Crudup, which has enjoyed Off-Broadway and West End engagements. Another recent solo play, 'Sandra', featuring Marjan Neshat, further showcases Cale's talent as a playwright.

The production will feature stunning set design by Studio Bent, captivating costumes by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Caroline Eng, and an original score by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
