Becoming a parent is a life-altering experience, and for Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, it's a journey filled with love, learning, and a beautiful new addition to their family: Saraayah. After keeping their daughter's name a secret for four months, the couple finally shared it with the world on November 28th, along with a heartwarming photo.
Sidharth has opened up about how fatherhood has reshaped his life. He shared that mornings now revolve around Saraayah's stretches and that he's completely smitten with his little girl. He humorously admitted, "I have never lost so many arguments to someone who can’t speak. I realized that I am no longer the hero of the house; she’s the superstar."
But here's where it gets interesting: the meaning behind the name Saraayah. Sidharth revealed that the name is both spiritual and unique, explaining, "Saraayah is ‘Princess of God.’ It’s not in Hindi, of course. It’s an exotic name that comes from the East. It’s actually a Hebrew name." This choice highlights the couple's appreciation for names with deep meaning and a global connection. They even contemplated whether to make the name public, but ultimately decided to share it.
Sidharth also spoke candidly about navigating the uncharted waters of fatherhood. He admits to "improvising" as he goes, embracing the role as it unfolds. He observes a shift in modern parenting, noting a better work-life balance and a desire to be more involved in their child's life than previous generations. He highlights the empowering freedom children have today, saying, "Tomorrow my daughter could pick any profession she wants in India. That gives me a sense of pride and comfort, as there are no ‘nos’, or dos and don’ts anymore. At least the lines are very blurred.”
And this is the part most people miss: Sidharth's reflections on whether he'll become an overprotective parent. He believes it will depend on the journey they share, the culture they create, and the trust he instills in her. He emphasizes the importance of letting her learn from her own mistakes, understanding that confidence in her decision-making is key.
