Week 15 Injury Report for the Dolphins and Steelers
The Steelers kicked off their week of preparation for Monday night’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins at Acrisure Stadium, opting to practice indoors on Thursday.
T.J. Watt did not participate in Thursday’s session, and team spokesman Burt Lauten released an update: Watt is currently in a local hospital for further evaluation of a lung issue after feeling discomfort at the practice facility on Wednesday. His status for Monday’s game against Miami remains uncertain. Coach Mike Tomlin is expected to share more details when available.
A large portion of the roster was unavailable or limited to begin the week, as Tomlin noted. Concussion protocol remains a focus for several players, with updates pending from medical staff to determine eligibility. The players mentioned were Andrus Peat, Malik Harrison, and Darnell Washington.
Injuries from play that could affect early-week participation include Keeanu Benton with an ankle issue (he finished the game but is expected to be limited early in the week) and James Pierre with a calf injury (also finished the game but may be limited early). Ben Skowronek and Yahya Black, among others, were listed as well.
One player moving in a positive direction is safety Kyle Dugger, who had missed the Ravens game due to an injury to his hand but is considered to have a chance to return this week.
Receiver DK Metcalf traveled to Baltimore and stayed overnight for observation after taking a hit to the abdomen during the game. Tomlin explained that Metcalf was given basic in-game remedies and that symptoms worsened postgame, prompting a cautious approach to his availability. While Metcalf is trending in the right direction and should not miss the game, his practice participation could be limited early in the week as a precaution. Tomlin credited the medical staff for their swift actions and noted Metcalf’s overall stability.
Rookie defensive lineman Derrick Harmon has been out the last two games with a knee injury but is slowly working his way back. Tomlin said Harmon will be limited at the start of the week, with participation level and pace guiding whether he is cleared for action.
With a Monday night game on the horizon, the Steelers benefit from an extra day to recover. Tomlin expressed gratitude for the additional 24 hours of recovery and explained the coaching staff’s decision to adjust Friday’s schedule to emphasize situational football and other key elements. The aim is to grant players more rest while ensuring they’re ready to contribute when the game arrives. This approach is especially valuable as the season tightens and every day of recovery can matter.
The coach emphasized that clearer updates on player availability should come as the week progresses, and he stressed the importance of rest and collective readiness as teams navigate the late-season grind.
