At the Milestone Ground in Broadway, a dig that unearthed 8,000 years of human activity culminated in a discovery that has sent ripples of excitement through the archaeological world: a beautifully carved bone box. But here's where it gets really interesting…
Unearthed from the grave of a young woman, this bone box is more than just an artifact; it's a window into the lives, beliefs, and artistic skills of the people who once thrived in the north Cotswolds. The lead archaeologist, Jamie Wilkins, was so struck by the find that he described it as 'extraordinary', admitting he'd never encountered anything quite like it.
